Introducing the EcofemTales Knowledge Series: Advancing Ecofeminist Knowledge through Dialogue, Research, and Action

At EcofemTales Environmental Foundation, we believe that meaningful conversations can shape meaningful change. While stories have the power to heal, research and dialogue have the power to inform action, influence policy, and inspire collective solutions. This belief is the foundation of the EcofemTales Knowledge Series, our flagship annual programme designed to advance ecofeminist knowledge through dialogue, research, and action.

The Knowledge Series is more than a webinar. It is an evolving platform where researchers, practitioners, policymakers, activists, and community leaders come together to examine some of the most pressing environmental and gender issues of our time. Through interdisciplinary conversations, we seek to bridge the gap between academic research, lived experiences, and practical solutions.

Why the EcofemTales Knowledge Series?

Environmental challenges are increasingly complex and interconnected. Climate change, water insecurity, biodiversity loss, environmental degradation, and social inequality disproportionately affect women and marginalized communities. Addressing these challenges requires collaboration across disciplines, sectors, and communities.

The EcofemTales Knowledge Series was established to create a dedicated space where knowledge is not only shared but also documented, preserved, and translated into action. Every conversation contributes to a growing body of ecofeminist knowledge that supports research, advocacy, and policy development.

Rather than allowing valuable discussions to end when a webinar concludes, EcofemTales is committed to ensuring that each dialogue contributes to a lasting knowledge legacy.

Our 2026 Theme

The inaugural edition of the Knowledge Series is themed:

Women, Water, and the Environment: Advancing Equity, Sustainability, and Climate Justice

Water is fundamental to life, ecosystems, livelihoods, and public health. Yet access to and governance of water remain deeply connected to questions of gender, environmental justice, and climate resilience. Throughout the series, speakers will explore diverse perspectives on water conservation, women's leadership, Indigenous knowledge, environmental governance, public health, policy, innovation, and community resilience.

Our goal is to encourage thoughtful conversations that deepen understanding and generate practical recommendations for a more sustainable and equitable future.

What Speakers Can Expect

The EcofemTales Knowledge Series is designed to foster respectful, engaging, and intellectually stimulating conversations.

As a speaker, you can expect:

  • A welcoming interdisciplinary audience of researchers, practitioners, students, policymakers, and environmental advocates.
  • A 20-minute presentation followed by a 10-minute interactive question-and-answer session.
  • A collaborative environment that values evidence-based research, professional experience, and diverse perspectives.
  • Opportunities to engage with participants from different sectors and regions.

We encourage presentations that are accessible, insightful, and solution-oriented while maintaining academic and professional rigour.

Beyond the Series

One of the defining features of the Knowledge Series is its commitment to documentation and knowledge sharing.

Each session will be supported by a rapporteur who will document the key discussions, emerging themes, recommendations, and audience engagement. These reports will form part of the EcofemTales Knowledge Collection, an annual publication that preserves the insights generated throughout the series.

In addition, EcofemTales will produce a Summary of Concerns, synthesizing recurring issues, policy gaps, research priorities, and recommendations that emerge across all sessions.

These outputs ensure that the conversations continue to inform research, advocacy, and public engagement long after the live sessions have ended.

Shaping the 2027 Ecofeminist Conference

The Knowledge Series is also laying the foundation for the 2027 Ecofeminist Conference.

Rather than determining conference themes in advance, EcofemTales will use the collective insights from the Knowledge Series to shape the conference programme. The discussions, recommendations, and identified priorities will guide the conference agenda, ensuring that it reflects contemporary challenges and responds to the concerns raised by scholars and practitioners throughout the series.

This approach creates a continuous cycle of dialogue, documentation, reflection, and action.

An Invitation to Collaborate

We invite researchers, academics, practitioners, policymakers, activists, and community leaders to contribute to this growing body of ecofeminist knowledge.

Whether your expertise lies in water governance, environmental justice, climate adaptation, Indigenous knowledge, biodiversity conservation, public health, sustainable development, or related fields, your perspective can help enrich this collective conversation.

Together, we can build stronger evidence, foster meaningful partnerships, and contribute to solutions that advance environmental sustainability, gender equity, and climate justice.

The EcofemTales Knowledge Series is not simply about hosting conversations, it is about creating a living archive of ideas that informs research, strengthens advocacy, and inspires action.

We look forward to learning with you and from you as we continue healing the Earth with stories while advancing ecofeminist knowledge for a more just and sustainable future.
